FOCUS ON THE ETERNAL, NOT THE TEMPORAL!

FOCUS ON THE ETERNAL, NOT THE TEMPORAL!

You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. —II Corinthians 3:2

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. —II Corinthians 3:17

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. —II Corinthians 4:6

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. —II Corinthians 4:17-18

            Who do you know that—

  • Are your recommendations, written on your heart, to be known and read by all?
  • Are presently living out their freedom in the Spirit of our Lord?
  • Have had God’s light shine into their hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ?
  • Are going through affliction, but see how it is transient and are looking toward the eternal and not the temporal?

Then we could ask ourselves the questions as well—

  • How am I being a recommendation to be read by everyone? What are they reading about me?  What does my life-letter convey to others?
  • Am I living out faithfully the freedom I have in the Spirit of the Lord? How am I doing so?  And do I have a great sense of gratitude toward our Lord for this freedom He has set me free to live for Him?
  • What ways am I sharing with others how our Lord shone His light in my heart so I could have the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ? Without that light I would not be able to know Him!
  • Do I consider the afflictions I go through, or will experience, transient and focus on the eternal and not the temporal? Yes, may this be so!  Life is so short… may I focus on that which is eternal!

Dear Father, please help me to focus on what is really important.  May I be passionate about what You are passionate about.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ4lAVu9VwU
