NONE CAN STAND BEFORE HIS ANGER!
But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? —Psalm 76:7
Do you and I have a proper perspective on who God is? Are we truly aware that none can stand before Him when His “anger is roused?” Have you and I truly considered how small we are in comparison to the One who created all things? Look into the night sky and be astounded at His immensity. He is not the universe, but He created the universe! How awesome is He! We cannot fathom His greatness and His goodness is as great as His greatness! His love is pure. His desires for relationship with us. Oh, let us grow in our understanding of Who He Is!
How ridiculous and foolish it is to stand against Him. All those of the earth who rebel against Him will, at some point in the future, experience His anger. He alone has all our best interests in mind. It was that way in the Garden of Eden before sin entered mankind and it will be that way again at the end of this age when we are with Him forever. He has our best interests in mind now, but sin so often clouds our understanding of how that is the case. But, in the future when sin is no more… everything will be as it should be. Until then, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9). Yes, He is being patient so others can come to know Jesus. But there is coming a time when His patience will end… and it will not be a good thing to be in rebellion against Him when He shows forth His anger!
Dear Father, thank You for Your great patience with us, the church, the body of Christ. Please help us finish the work Jesus gave us to do in being witnesses and making disciples in all the world.
