HOME IS FAST APPROACHING!

O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah  Surely a man goes about as a shadow!… surely all mankind is a mere breath!  —Psalm 39:4-6, 10

Do you realize this?  Are thinking about “the measure of your days” and how “fleeting” they are?  Look at your hand with your palm up.  Roughly, across your palm is a handbreadth.  Our lives are a few measurements across our palms.  That’s not very long.

Or, we are like a breath.  Breath in… that’s it.  That’s how quickly our life goes by on this planet.  For us who are older it surely seems like that now.  Surely, I started a breath when I was born and it doesn’t seem like I got too far into that breath and here I am 68 years later.  Wow…

Or, we are like a shadow.  Shadows don’t last very long.  But then we are told that before our Lord, our life is nothing.  How do you measure the brief time we are here to the eternity that He has already been in?  Our existence, all of mankind, it but a breath.

What is so marvelous about this, what is so tremendous about this, what is so awesome about this is that Jesus was willing to leaven the eternal glories of heaven to come to this briefly existing realm we live in to give the opportunity to be saved from our sin to an eternity to be with Him.  What?  How awesome is that!  To go from our brief existence to a never-ending existence with Jesus and all those who love Him.  He will make everything new again and—

“God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” –Revelation 21:3-5

Dear Father, I thank You for all You have done and will do for me and all who love You and have called on Jesus to save them from sin to a relationship with You through Him.  Out of gratitude may I live faithfully for You now.  Yes, may it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRSGXKsv7IU
