A NEW HEART—NEW ATTITUDES!

A NEW HEART— NEW ATTITUDES!

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh… Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations. —Ezekiel 36:26, 31

Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! —Psalm 40:4

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the LORD!” —Psalm 40:

Whether when Israel receives a new heart or we as individuals, He will give us a new spirit.  He will take away the hard heart of stone and give us a soft heart of flesh.  It is our Lord God Almighty that does this work.  We cannot do it on our own.  He has to do it.  But when He does do it and we “remember (our) evil ways, and “our” deeds that were not good, and (we) will loathe (ourselves) for (our) iniquities and (our) abominations.”  If we do not have this attitude toward our lives before He gave us a new heart and spirit, then we have to question whether we have received that new heart and spirit.

But for we “who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” — We are blessed!  We are seeking Him.  We are rejoicing in Him.  We are glad in Him.  We love His salvation.  We don’t want to follow after the prideful.  We don’t want to follow after those going astray after a lie.  We “say continually, “Great is the LORD!”  So yes, let us be seeking Him, be glad in Him, be loving His salvation and let us say continually— “Great is the Lord!”  And… let us not go after the prideful and those chasing lies.

So, as we consider these passages above, they surely give us indicators as to who has a new heart or who still retains a heart of stone.  The attitude and life lived will give evidence as to whether a person truly knows the Lord or not.

Dear Father, I thank You for replacing my heart of stone with a soft heart of flesh and with a new spirit.  Now, out of my gratitude and love for You, may I live faithfully according to Your desires in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DHfUmrfWpk
