WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL

WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL

I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. —Jeremiah 10:23

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. —Proverbs 16:9

The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will. —Proverbs 21:1

Do we really think we are ultimately in control?  We cannot even control what is happening in our bodies.  Sickness comes and goes or for some/many, sickness comes and stays.  We have no control over when sickness will come upon us.  Do we really think we are in control?  Death will come to us all… Do we really think we are in control?

“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth…. after these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten” (Joshua 23:14).  No, we are not ultimately in control.  We may make plans, but in the end “the LORD establishes their steps.”  Even kings and leaders of this world have hearts like “a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.”  We are not ultimately in control.

Let us make our plans with the attitude that “if it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”  That type of focus understands whose will overrides all other wills and is desiring the Lord’s will to be done.  Is that our desire?  Dear Father, may this truly be our desire by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yQ6TLV_PWY         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiS2QzvDhQc
