THE ONLY HOPEFUL LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS—- JESUS!
Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish… —Hosea 4:1-3
Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not the LORD. —Hosea 5:4
Whether it is the Jewish nation or any nation, faithlessness and not knowing the Lord will only lead to the degeneration of a nation. There are those who would call degeneration progressive, but this is delusion and deception. What does a faithless nation look like?
- There is no knowledge of God in the land
- There is swearing in the land
- There is lying in the land
- There is murder in the land
- There is stealing in the land
- There is adultery in the land
- There is a breaking of all bounds/restraints in the land
- There is bloodshed after bloodshed in the land
- There is spiritual whoredom in the land
Yes, this is what a nation looks like when it knows not the Lord— it degenerates deeper into darkness and is not progressive as so many clamor. America is looking a lot like this today. It is truly sad, but brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, our Lord has placed us here “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14; Acts 17:26). We know that this is the way that the world is going, but we have the truth of the gospel to bring to people in this dark world. May we do so while we have life and breath! Yes, Dear Father, You have given us the answer to this sin sick world through the good news of Jesus and all that He has done for us.
