WORSHIPPING OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY OR SOMETHING ELSE

Ah, you who hide deep from the LORD your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? —Isaiah 29:15-16

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them. —Psalm 115:1-8

There are those who are doing deeds in the dark and think that nobody knows, nobody sees.  But, as followers of Jesus, we know that “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).  People turn things upside down by saying, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”  To think right side up is to know and say, “He sees us.  He knows us.”  What is done in the darkness is in broad daylight to our Lord God Almighty.  What is said in the darkness is in broad daylight to our Lord God Almighty.  He knows all!

Who made who anyway?  Do we live in such a way as we are saying, even if it is only by actions without words, “He did not make me” or “He does not understand?”  Are we thinking and acting like the nations who say, “Where is their God?”  Are we truly looking to bring glory to God or to ourselves?  Do we give glory to God for His “steadfast love and faithfulness.”  It is a major flaw and sin to think and act like God is not in the heavens and that He does not do what He pleases.

To have the wrong attitude about our Lord God or to be living in such a way as to think our Lord God does not know is absolute ignorance or disobedience.  It is acting and thinking like the world whose “idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.”  To be living for an idol, whatever it may be, is to become like it!  That is such a dangerous place to be!

So… is there an idol or are their idols in your life or mine?  Is there anything that is more important or we give more priority to than faithfulness to our Lord God Almighty— “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment” (Matthew 37-39)?  If there is, then you will be impacted by that idol and not by our Lord God Almighty.  You will become like that idol.  Who or what are we being transformed to? How are we thinking (Romans 12:2)?

Transformation only takes place by hearing what He has to say and applying what He says to our lives.  That is the wise man (Matthew 7:24-25).  Transformation will not take place when a person hears what He has to say and does not apply what He says to life.  That is the foolish man (Matthew 7:26-27).  Dear Father, please help us to be wise men by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!  All for Your honor and glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbipxLDtY8c
