CALLED TO LOVE AND SERVE OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

CALLED TO LOVE AND SERVE OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. —Deuteronomy 10:12

And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. —Deuteronomy 11:13

You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth. —Deuteronomy 11:18-21

You shall not do according to all that we are doing here today, everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes. —Deuteronomy 12:8

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalm 55:22

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? —Psalm 56:3-4

10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, 11 in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?… For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life. ——Psalm 56:10-12, 13

These two commands sum up the focus and motivation for the follower of Jesus—

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” —Matthew 22:36-40

Loving God, loving people, and all that means, is God’s desire for us.  This is seen throughout His Word.

  • Fear the Lord
  • Walk in His ways
  • Love Him
  • Serve Him with all your heart and soul
  • Obey Him
  • Teach His ways to your children in the home and beyond
  • Do what is right in His eyes and not your own eyes
  • He sustains and keeps us
  • Trust God and fear not man
  • Walk in His light of life

Of Jesus it is said, “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:4-5).  He is “the light of the world. Whoever follows (Him) will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).  Are you walking in the “light of life?”  Are you walking in Jesus?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=63s Dear Father, thank You for transferring me from the kingdom of darkness and the power of Satan, to the kingdom of light, the kingdom of your Dear Son.  May I now live faithfully according to Your desires in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in authority of Your Son, Jesus. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03G52K9X2hQ
