FEAR OF THE LORD

FEAR OF THE LORD

You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the LORD your God. —Leviticus 25:17

You shall not rule over him ruthlessly but shall fear your God. —Leviticus 25:43

And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.” —Job 28:28

To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. —Proverbs 8:13

To fear the Lord is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.  To fear the Lord is to not speak and act contrary to His desires.  This shows whether a person truly has a proper perspective on our Lord.

A person who says they fear the Lord and continues willfully to do evil is not being honest.  If their lifestyle is contrary to what our Lord desires then they do not truly fear the Lord.  Attitude, thoughts and actions truly show if a person is in right relationship or fellowship with our Lord.  A person who truly fears the Lord has understanding of His desires and seeks to follow those desires and is growing in those desires.

On the other hand, a person that professes to know Jesus, but has no desire in putting aside those things our Lord hates, well, that is a big red flag as to whether that person truly knows the Lord.  Those who truly know our Lord desire to become more and more like Him.  They so desire also to be in glory with Him one day.  But they also realize our Lord has purposes for them while they are living in this world and they desire to be faithful to those purposes.

Do you wrong others without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Are you ruthless with others without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Are you involved in evil without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Do you love evil without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Are you being prideful without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Are you being arrogant without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  Is your behavior evil without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  So you speak perversely without conviction that is not what our Lord desires?  If that is the case then you truly do not fear the Lord.  If that is the case you may not truly know the Lord.  Consistent actions reveal what is truly in the heart.   “When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).  To fear the Lord is to love Him and His ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUI0Q0DQRYk May we truly fear Him, love Him and seek to be faithful to Him.

Dear Father please help me more and more to love that which You love and to hate that which You hate.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son.  Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeksNsNrjNA
