THE OBVIOUS UNGODLY— WARN THEM!
It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage. But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. —Jude 1:14-19
Warning… warning… we need to warn those around us that do not know Jesus. Judgment is coming. It is coming! The Lord will convict the ungodly. The ungodly are identified by—
- their deeds committed
- the way ungodly deeds are committed
- their ungodly harsh speech against our Lord
- their grumbling
- being malcontents
- following their own sinful desires
- being loud-mouth boasters
- showing favoritism to gain advantage
- being scoffers
- following their own ungodly passions
- causing divisions
- being worldly people
- being devoid of the Spirit
Clearly the above description of the ungodly is greatly evident in our culture today in America. But I am sure that this is a world-wide description of the ungodly today as well in any culture. Our Lord is going to come back to judge. Each person will be judged whether they are alive at His coming or die first. All will face judgment. For those who are following Jesus their judgment will be at the Judgment Seat of Christ (II Corinthians 5:10). There will be no condemnation at that judgment because Jesus has already been judged in our stead. But… we will be rewarded or lose rewards depending on our faithfulness to Him or our unfaithfulness to Him. Praise God though, fellow follower of Jesus, we will not face condemnation.
But those who do not know Jesus, as described above, their own words and ways will condemn them. It will be obvious that they have never called on Jesus or have ever wanted anything to do with Him. This judgment will take place at the White Throne Judgment where those not following Jesus will be separated from Him forever in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15-20).
So, brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, we are here still to sound the alarm to those who do not know Jesus and to encourage them to turn to Him, trust Him, follow Him and know the peace and eternal life that we know.
