I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me.  They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.   —Nehemiah 2:18

It only takes one person whom God has given a vision to stir others to join in the work that God is doing.  Nehemiah was that person and after He shared with the Israelites how God’s gracious hand was on him and what the king had said to him the people were ready to start rebuilding the wall.

The work was divided up with different groups of people taking sections of the wall to rebuild.  To look at the wall as a whole was a big job— maybe around 1.7 miles long is what I read.  But to break the wall up into smaller sections for groups to complete was a much more doable job to complete.  All the groups were faithful to rebuild their part and the work was done in 52 days.  When God is in the work and His people work together to do His will, much can be accomplished.

God stirred one individual, Nehemiah, to have the vision for the work that He wanted to complete.  God gave Nehemiah the skills needed to administrate the rebuilding of the wall.  He had also prepared the people to be ready to join in the work to be done.  God’s work, done God’s way will not lack the resources needed to accomplish what He desires.

Maybe you are one of those people that God has given vision to accomplish a work He desires done.  You are the one He desires to stir others who are ready to be involved in that work.  Will you do what God desires?  To look at the work as a whole may be overwhelming, but God has prepared the people to work along with you to do what He desires.  So… let’s start or continue the work He has called us to!

Dear Father may I be faithful to what You have called me to be and do by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so!
