“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” —Acts 1:8

Have you called on Jesus to be saved from sin, self and Satan to a relationship with God by calling on Jesus?  (Romans 10:13).  If so then “you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14).  You have the “power” of God’s Holy Spirit to be a witness.  This witness started in Jerusalem… then it went to Judea… then it went to Samaria… and finally to us who are art “the end of the earth.”

So now that we are following Jesus… are we being a faithful witness— telling others what we have heard and seen?  This was the expectation of those who follow Jesus.  He said, “You will be my witnesses.”  So are we?  Look what Peter and John said about being witness for Jesus— “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).  Why was that?  What motivated them in such a way that they could not help being witness even when it meant persecution?  As for them, as it was for Paul and should be for us— “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died” (II Corinthians 5:14).  How can one keep that message to themselves?  Loving obedience will seek to a faithful witness of Jesus.

Dear Father please show me today who I am to bear witness to for Jesus.  Oh, that in doing so may my motivation be out of my love for You and for people.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it!
