OUR FAITHFULNESS OR UNFAITHFULNESS WILL HAVE AN IMPACT

“I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the LORD.” —II Chronicles 34:15

“Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it before the king. And when the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes.  —II Chronicles 34:18-19

“Go, inquire of the LORD for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book.” —II Chronicles 34:21

And the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. —II Chronicles 34:31

How important is God’s Word to you?  What are you doing with what He has said?  The Book of the Law had not been adhered to.  They did not even know where it was.  It had been lost, but now it was found.  Where is your copy of God’s Word?  Is it lost?  Does it need to be found?  Are you adhering to what God has to say?

When the Book of the Law was found it was read before the king.  When the king heard God’s Word he tore his clothes, knowing they had not kept His Word.  He also knew that through disobedience the wrath of God was poured out upon them.  Why?  It was “because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this book.”  Yes, the previous unfaithfulness of one generation surely affected the next.  How are you living to affect the next generation? Will your faithfulness or unfaithfulness impact the next generation?

King Josiah “stood in his place and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.”  Oh, may that be our heart’s desire as well.  Yes, Dear Father may I be faithful to what You say.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rKKybs7o2Q
