HE HELPS US AND FIGHTS FOR US!

With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.  —II Chronicles 32:8

We are in spiritual warfare, but we are not in so by ourselves.  No, Jesus said that He is with us until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20) and in Hebrews 13:5-6 we read that God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can mere mortals do to me?” Those are both quotations from Deuteronomy 31:6 and Psalm 118:6-7.  What was true over 3,000 years ago is still true today.

Do not look merely upon the physical— what you can see.  No instead, let us “fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (II Corinthians 4:18).  All that we see is temporary. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (II Corinthians 4:16-17).  To look just on the physical aspect of life can be discouraging many times, but we will be greatly encouraged if we keep our eyes focused on what we cannot see.  We do not see Jesus, but “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).  We will see Jesus one day.  He is at the finish line.  Keep running!  Keep looking and “we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is” (I John 3:2).

So let us just remember that until we see Jesus He is with us.  He will help us.  He will fight our battles (read Judges 6-7 as a reminder).  So let us trust Him and rely on Him.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu2S9y3r0XE&t=2s
