He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” —Luke 20:25

“Caesar’s,” they answered. So Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” —Matthew 22:21

Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him. —Mark 12:17

Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. —Romans 13:7

Tax season has just past us this year of 2022.  Did you give to “Caesar” what is due?  We are told to:

  • Give to “Caesar” what belongs to him
  • Pay the taxes we owe
  • Pay the revenue that is due
  • Give respect to those it is due
  • Give honor to those to whom it is due

These are areas where our Lord desires us to be obedient in.  As citizens we are to be faithful testimonies in these areas.  But also we are to give to God what is His.  Part of giving to what is His is being obedient and faith in these areas that are mentioned.

Loving God with all our being and loving our neighbor as ourselves will give us the right focus on giving to Caesar what is his, but also in giving to God what is His.  Yes, loving Him and people will help us be faithful to His desires in our lives.  We will want to “obey him and do the things that please him” (I John 3:22).  May this be the case in every area of our lives.  Yes, may we be maturing in each area!

Dear Father it is my desire to be faithful in every area of my life.  I have such a long way to go.  Please help me to be what You desire and to do those things that are pleasing in Your sight.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
