DO NOT ADD OR SUBTRACT FROM HIS WORD!

Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. —Deuteronomy 4:2

Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. —Proverbs 30:6

I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book. —Revelation 22:18-19

            Tampering with God’s Word is an eternally serious matter!  We are not to take away from what He says and we are not to add to what He says.  Those who intentionally and deliberately do so are in danger of eternal judgment.

            There are cults and even political leaders who have deliberately changed God’s Word to distort who God is and what He has said.  Millions are being deceived because of it and those who deliberately have changed God’s Word are in eternal danger.

            This is a stark warning to anyone who would add or take away what God has said.  We need to seek to be faithfully clinging to what God has said and not come up with our own ideas or repeat the ideas of others who are not holding to His Word.  Yes, this is a great responsibility that our Lord has given us.  Be faithful ourselves to His Word and then seek to convey His Word faithfully to others.  May this be our heart’s desire!
