THE COMING SHOCK OF REALITY!
“Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. —Matthew 24:29-30
See, the day of the Lord is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. —Isaiah 13:9-11
All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree.— Isaiah 34:4
I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” —Revelation 6:12-17
There’s a day coming when Jesus will return. It could be in our life-time. As we look around at the world and hear the things happening, it appears that we are getting much closer to the end. Will it be in our life time that Jesus comes? I do not know, but I hope so! Either way I will see Him— upon His return or through my death. There are those who do not believe this. They are in for a shock when He comes back. All this talk about climate change will pale into utter insignificance when He comes back. Just prior to His return there will be cataclysmic cosmic shakings. There will be no doubt what is happening and “all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.”
What they did not believe will be materializing before their very eyes. Our Lord “will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.” It will be then that “the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!
