KING OF TRUTH

 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him. But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber. —John 18:37-40

             King Jesus stood before Pilate and Pilate knew Jesus was guiltless and so stated it. And yet he handed Jesus over to the mob’s desire to have Jesus crucified.   The mob chose a murderer over the spotless, innocent Lamb of God. This is what the world does… they would rather side with a murderer than with Jesus.

            Jesus came to bear witness to the truth and Pilate had said, “What is truth?” The absolute Truth was standing right in front of Pilate and he did not understand that.   Jesus said that “Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” As I have stated before and so I mention it again— We are to look for those who will listen to the Word of God, asking our Lord to identify them for us. Those who will listen are “of the truth.”

            So as we go through our day today look for those who will listen to the Word of God. Share the Word of God with people and find those who are “of the truth.” So will you do that today? Who will you talk with? This is the desire of our King for us.
