CAUSE OF DEATH…

 Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. —I Chronicles 10:13-14

             So many are fearful, yes fearful of getting and dying of the present day Covid virus. Do you know that your day of death is already determined? Yes, we need to be wise, but you cannot die until our Lord’s timetable for you on earth is over. He knows when you are going to die and how you are going to die. So stop fearing and live according to His desires for you and be not pressed into the fearful mold the world seeks to form you in. In doing so the world distracts you for the work God has for you (Ephesians 2:10). Be about His business!

            The above verses tell us Saul’s cause of death, the reason behind his death.   It was not some illness that came upon him that killed him. It was not some tragic accident or incident that took his life. It was not even the wounds he sustained in battle. They were the messengers of death, but not the cause of death. The cause of death for Saul was that “he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death…”   The cause of death was of the Lord and He used the instruments of war as the messengers of death. Disobedience, in Saul’s case, was the cause and reason for his death.

            I wonder how many followers of Jesus this happens to. Disobedience to our Lord is a very serious matter. There are many examples of this in God’s Word. But let’s look at I Corinthians 11:17-34— the Lord’s Table or Communion… Because of disobedience look what it says! “That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep” (I Corinthians 11:30).  Yes, disobedience to our Lord is a very serious matter. Some of the Corinthians became sick because of disobedience and some even died because of their disobedience. Let us not think this doesn’t happen today! Disobedience is still as serious today as it was in Saul’s day and in the Corinthian’s day. Oh, that our cause of death may not be connected with our disobedience to our Lord!

Dear Father my heart’s desire is that I would be faithful right to my last breath or until Jesus comes back. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
