FRUIT OF DISOBEDIENCE

 Though they say, “As the LORD lives,” yet they swear falsely. O LORD, do not your eyes look for truth? You have struck them down, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent. —Jeremiah 5:2-3

 Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. —Jeremiah 6:19

             There are those who speak as thought they know the Lord, but it is a false witness. Our Lord desires people to live for truth, but these false professors of faith do not. When our Lord deals with them they feel no anguish. They refuse to take correction from Him and they make “their faces harder than rock.” They refuse to repent— they go their own way and will not turn and follow our Lord’s ways. They are just professors of faith, all talk and no action which would give evidence of faith. This is a dangerous place to be.

            People like this are in serious danger of our Lord’s judgment. And this judgment is just the fruit of their own devices. What were their devices? They have paid no attention to our Lord’s Words, they have rejected His Word. Even though they are professors of faith they do what they want to do. Does this sound like our age? Sure does.  

            In the verses above the context is that our Lord is going to use a distant nation to discipline those who are professing faith, but this profession is only in words. There is no action to give evidence that they truly believe. Today our Lord could do the same to the United States or any country.   It is very evident. We in America are not immune to our Lord’s discipline.   If He desires to bring a distant nation to discipline us then He will and it looks like the time is ripe…
