When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. —Revelation 8:1

Think of all the activity in heaven that we know of. Angels are rejoicing each time a person calls on Jesus to be saved (Luke 15:7). There is much praise and worship taking place.   Angels are going to and from as they travel between heaven and earth as they are “sent to serve those who will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14). Believers who have died are entering into and sharing in their Lord’s happiness (Matthew 25:21) as they now know the place Jesus has been preparing for them (John 14:3).

So think of it— there is silence in heaven for an hour. Quietness… no praise and worship… stillness. No rejoicing over those repenting.  At this point has the gospel gone out into all the world and now the end is coming? (Matthew 24:14). Is the age that we know being brought to conclusion? (Matthew 28:20). Is this the calm before the violent storms of judgment about to come on the earth from heaven? It appears so!

Heaven is silent… reflection… anticipation… expectation… resolution… conclusion. It is coming. It is closer. Will it be in our life-time? It could be.   But let us be faithful in what our Lord has called us to— love Him, love people, be witnesses, make disciples.   All of us will see Jesus as Savior or Judge. Let us encourage people to trust Him now as Savior so they will not meet Him then as Judge.   Yes, Dear Father as we wait for Jesus’ return may we be about Your business in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May it be so!
