OBEY!
OBEY!
And this shall come to pass, if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God. —Zechariah 6:15
Obedience is better than sacrifice. Are you obeying the voice of the Lord your God (John 14:21)? Are you seeking to be the person He desires you to be (Galatians 5:22-26)? Are you involved in the “good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10)? Are you being obedient to our Lord God Almighty? “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwiw4UMK7Us
The little boy was told to stand in the corner because of something wrong he had done. He did go to the corner to stand, but he said, “I am standing on the outside, but I am sitting on the inside.” Yes, he went through the motions of obedience, but his heart was not in it. The inside did not line up with the outside.
I wonder how often you and I go through the motion of seemingly obedience on the outside, but our hearts are not really in compliance with what He desires. There is something else going on inside us that is contrary to what He desires. Is God’s Word speaking to you? “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12-13). Let us not go through simply outward motions of obedience. God knows what is going on in our hearts. May we be faithfully obedient to Him. We will be giving and account to Him!
Yes dear Father may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May I not merely go through the motions of obedience, but may I truly be faithfully obedient to You for Your glory and honor. Oh, just to hear those words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” would be enough for me. May it be so!
