OUR FIRM FOUNDATION!

 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.  They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.  The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you. —Psalm 102: 25-27

            How great is our God?  He is awesome in power having laid the “foundation” of the earth.  Of all the foundations man has made none compare to this foundation.  Man’s foundations don’t even come close.

The tallest building in the world is known as Burj Khalifa and was originally referred to as Burj Dubai. This building is located in Dubai; it is 2,717 feet or 828 meters tall and has a total 163 floors.              The shanghai Tower is the world’s second tallest building is not as high as the world’s tallest. It is 2,017 feet or 632 meters with 128 floors.  This is the third tallest building in the word, and it is located in Mecca city in Saudi Arabia. The building contains the largest clock in the world, measuring at 141 square feet. Plus, it has 120 floors and is 1,972 feet or 601 meters tall. Pang An International Finance Center is located in Shenzhen, China. It is a newer building with a height of 1,965 feet and 115 floors.

            Impressive as these building are that man has created, they don’t even compare to God’s all-powerful creativeness.  The 95 story Shard building, the tallest in Europe, has foundation piers 174 feet deep whereas the Empire State Building has piers only 52 feet deep.  Yes, man has been given the creative ability from God, but grand as they are from the human perspective, they pale to nothingness when compared to the handiwork of God.

            Look at the longevity of the earth and heavens.  For multiple millennia they have existed.  What is the oldest human structure that is still in use?  There are none because they all crumble with time.  Only ruins remain.  God’s earthly “foundation” has not crumbled and will not until He destroys it and makes it new.  Nor will the heavens disappear until He renews them.  He is the one that will do this, but be sure of this— “they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away.”  They are only temporary, but the Lord is forever.

            Let us not focus on the temporal, but the eternal.  This world will pass away as we know it, but our Lord will remain forever and we are safe in Him.  Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us and we will be with Him one day in that place forever! (John 14:1-6).

            We are in the “Easter” season and this is what the coming, the cross, the death and resurrection of Jesus is all about.  All those who receive Him He gives the right to become the “children of God” (John 1:12) and is preparing that place in heaven for those who love Him.  Glorious day that will be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=16s
