In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God… He says to himself, “God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.” —Psalm 10:4, 11

False views about God do not change the truth of who He is.  A person can deny the reality of gravity, but let him step off any high place and he will find out that his false belief has consequences.  So it is with those who hold false views about God.  They may think He does not see their actions, but they are dead wrong.  They may not want to make room in their lives for God or not have any desire to seek Him, but they will meet Him one day as Judge— “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and lay bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).

It is not that people can’t know that God exists, but it is because “in all his thoughts there is no room for God.”  The wickedness in their lives purposefully “suppresses the truth.”  That is why atheistic scientists have to remind themselves that the material world was not created by some Creator even though design screams out there is— “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.  Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4).  They are like the proverbial ostrich that puts his head in the sand to not see what is bothering him.  Even though ostriches do not do this it does seem man does, figuratively speaking.  They just don’t want to see what is bothering them.  They know God exists.  They don’t want to see Him.  They don’t what to acknowledge Him.  They don’t want anything to do with Him.  Why?  They want to be gods of their own lives, determiners of their own lives, captain of their own lives…  But think all they want, their lives are on a collision course with God and the consequence of His reality will be eternal devastation for the wicked that don’t want anything to do with Him now.  They will be separated from Him forever in the Lake of Fire mentioned in Revelation 20:15.  But God has made a way to repent and know Him—

Dear Father “You are the God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13) and every person who has ever lived, is living or will live.  There is nothing in all creation that escapes Your notice.  People can deny You and disbelieve in You, but that does not erase the fact that You do exist.  Be pleased to work in and through me to encourage others toward You before they die.  May this be done in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
