THE SOLUTION FOR AN EVIL HEART

THE SOLUTION FOR AN EVIL HEART

…every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood… —Genesis 8:21

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? —Jeremiah 17:9

The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. —Ecclesiastes 10:2

The pride of your heart has deceived you… —Obadiah 1:3

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. —Ezekiel 36:26

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. —Psalm 28:7

The heart, the inner part of man, the core of man is depraved without any hope of resolving that depravity on his own. Oh, man seeks solutions to the evils of this world in his own strength and wisdom, but there will never be answer to fix the wickedness of man.

Man is born with an evil inclination. This has been true ever since Adam and Eve, our representatives, sinned against God in the Garden of Eden. Sin has impacted the whole human race. Observe young children, children that are just one and two years old. It doesn’t take long to see the self-centered sinfulness and adults are no better. That selfishness continues for life. This is not to say that people do not do good things. That is what we were made for, to do good. But since mankind is in rebellion against God then they are ruled by their sinful nature. Even the good man does is not to bring honor and glory to God, but is done for some other self-centered motivation. But God’s Word is true “and every human being a liar” (Romans 3:4). The bad news is that every person is headed to Hell if their hearts are not changed. Thank God He made a way for our hearts to be changed.

We are told that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (II Corinthians 5:17). Indeed, He has given us a new heart and His righteousness! — “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (II Corinthians 5:21). This is “a righteousness that is by faith” (Romans 9:30) and “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17). “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). This is not “blind” faith, it is evidential faith!

Dear Father, thank You for drawing me to Your Son for salvation from sin and to a relationship with Him. May I be and do what You desire in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEtsHWFE6-w
