FLEE TO HIM!
FLEE TO HIM!
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. —Genesis 3:6
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. —Genesis 4:7
What God says not to do men sin saying it is good, it is pleasing, it is desirable and I will do it! So men give in to “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (I John 2:16). Their bodily appetites tempt them, their eyes are drawn to their temptation and their pride determines they will do what they want to do. They disregard what God’s will is for them and act according to their own will.
Fellow follower of Jesus, you know the spiritual battle that rages on the outside, but how are you handling the conflict that boils within you?— “For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want” (Galatians 5:17). But the verse that goes before this is key to victory over the flesh— “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to transform us by the renewing of our mind to be more like the Son of God. To be walking by the Spirit means we will be walking according to His Word and ways and not our own.
This is why “solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil” (Hebrews 5:14). Application of God’s Word trains us to “distinguish good from evil” and to walk in the ways that please Him (I John 3:22). “In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness” (Hebrews 5:12-13). The teaching about righteousness teaches us to live right! So brother and sister, beware of the spiritual warfare on the outside, but also of the conflict on the inside. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zgTrH5RUD0 (A.dmit, P.ray, T.rust, A.ct, T.hankful)
Dear Father, may I follow You faithfully and not give in to bodily appetites, lustful eyes or pride. Please help me in these areas as I walk through this day and every day. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8
