HOLD ON!
HOLD ON!
Hold on to what you have until I come. —Revelation 2:25
Hold on to truth, to love, faith, to patience, to service and be growing in these areas. Don’t let anyone or any circumstance deflect you from these. There is so much in this world that would have us turn away from these things. We are in spiritual warfare and let us not forget this for an instant.
Years ago in my teen years I used to do some dangerous things. Of course as a teen I was invincible. This one time I was going down a river near our home in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The river flowed out of Mascoma Lake. It was early Spring and the ice was barely breaking up n the lake, but the river level was very high already.
As we were boating down the river we came to a bend. Now the river could have changed since the last time we went down and as we started around the bend we saw that a tree had fallen into the river on the outside of the bend, the fastest moving water that we were in. If we hit that tree things were not going to go well. We started paddling as fast as we could to the outer shore of the bend, the boat bumped the shore and I jumped out holding the boat’s rope until my companion could get out. I was holding onto a tree branch while holding onto the boat rope while the boat was being pulled by the very strong current. If felt like I was being pulled apart, but I couldn’t let my companion go. Finally he got out of the boad and we were both standing up to our knees in mud. We pulled the boat out. We were safe and a disaster was avoided, but now we had an almost vertical bank to climb up!
Just as I was holding on to that boat for dear life so we are to hold on to those things that are so important as we follower Jesus. Let us do so as we continue our race in which Jesus is the author and finisher of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8
Dear Father, may I truly seek to hold on to the important things according to You and not be led astray by those things that would lead me off the race course You have laid out for me. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus my Lord.
