DON’T GROW WEARY IN DOING GOOD!
DON’T GROW WEARY IN DOING GOOD!
And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. —II Thessalonians 3:13
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. —Galatians 6:9
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. —Hebrews 12:3
We should never tire of doing good. We will reap a harvest if we do not give up. But Galatians 6:9 above implies that if we do give up there will not be a harvest. Here is why it is important to stick to what God wants us to be and do. He will bring about a harvest through us if we keep going!
I’m glad Jesus did not give up! When He left planet Earth look at what and who He left behind to continue the mission He gave. From the world’s perspective, who would have thought there would be such a harvest down through the ages right to us! Jesus endured opposition but He stuck to the plan. He knew the outcome. We also know the outcome. The verses above tell us as does the whole of God’s Word. There will be a harvest if we remain faithful to His will in our lives.
So, do you want to give up? Why? If the Lord is moving you from one ministry to another, that is not giving up. But if you are just pulling back from ministry where you are because of being weary… well, that is giving up and you will miss out on what the Lord wants to do in and through your life. You will not reap a harvest for the glory of God.
A pastor friend quoted this from the book “Replenished”—
“Jesus is an incredible gift to us. And as people in ministry we get the privilege of carrying that gift to the world. Our ministry can be likened to the box and the wrapping paper and the bow. Our size and style of box can vary from ministry to ministry, but we are all trying to deliver the same gift. Never lose sight of the fact that the box (your ministry) is not as valuable as the gift (Jesus). And that the only reason the box exists is to deliver the gift. You have dedicated your life to the gift, not to the box.”
Let us keep Jesus the center and priority of our lives wherever He haves us serving. Father, may it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. All for Your glory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m_sWJQm2fs
