GIVE!

“Well, then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” —Matthew 22:21

Tax season is upon us again. How do you feel about that? Or how do you feel about the taxes you pay with every gallon of gas you buy? Then there are the property taxes and state and federal taxes. God’s word says to “Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority” (Romans 13:6-7). Can you and I say this is how we think when we pay taxes?

But also, are we giving to God what belongs to Him? Do we give Him the respect and honor that He deserves? Do we give Him the obedience that He deserves? Are we giving Him the worship He deserves? Are we yielding to His desires— “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body: (I Corinthians 6:19-20).
