AUTHORITY TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL
“Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things.” —Luke 24:46-48
Your sin can be forgiven in Jesus if you will repent (turn from your sin, evil ways, and have a changed mind about sin) and follow God’s ways. If this happens in a person’s life then their life will be transformed over time. There will be evidence in their lives that they are truly following Jesus. It gives be great joy to see how the Lord has done this in my own life and in the lives of others. Inmates at the State Prison in Concord, NH who have trusted Jesus are going through transformation and there is evidence that they have truly trusted Jesus. Guys say, “I am so glad that I came to prison because it was here that the Lord got a hold of my life. It is the best thing that ever happened to me!”
Fellow follower of Jesus, you and I are to proclaim the gospel in the authority of our Lord Jesus. We do not do this in our own authority. We have none of our own. But He has sent us in His authority to do so. Are you and I being obedient to this commission? May it be so!
Dear Father, please help me to proclaim the gospel in the Name of Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for loving me, for being patient with me, for showing compassion for me… Out of gratitude may I be faithful in serving You.
