BORN AGAIN

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. —John 1:12-13

It is a marvel to see a child born into this world. For a baby to come out of the womb and into contact with the air for the first time is wondrous. Seeing the child for the first time is such a joy.

So too is it when a person is reborn or born again into the kingdom of Jesus Christ. The first birth is physical and when a person calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation from their sin, truly turning from it (repentance) and following Him, then they are born again. As mentioned above, God is the One that causes this birth. No man can bring it about. As followers of Jesus Christ we are to share the gospel with the lost because faith comes from hearing the Word of God. The Word is seed and Holy Spirit of God uses the Word of God to bring us to new birth through the authority of the Son of God— all to the glory of God.

Someone has said, “Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.” In other words, if we have only been born physically and have not trusted the Lord Jesus for salvation, then we will experience physical death and spiritual death which is the 2nd death -being thrown into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15). But, if we call on the name of the Lord Jesus we will be saved, born again into the family of God, the church (Romans 10:13) and we will die only a physical death. Then we will be in heaven with Jesus and all who love Him! Have you been born once or twice? Your answer determines your eternal destiny!

Thank You, Father, for saving me from my sin through the Lord Jesus. May I live faithfully for Him out of the gratitude of my heart. I so look forward to being with Jesus and all who love Him!
