WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, IN ORDER TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION…

For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us. —Isaiah 33:22

“At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches. He discovered this model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he read Isaiah 33:22;

“For the LORD is our judge, [judicial]
the LORD is our lawgiver, [legislative]
the LORD is our king; [executive]
He will save us.”

Baron Charles Montesquieu wrote “The Spirit of the Laws”, a book that was read and studied intently by our Founders. Montesquieu wrote in 1748; “Nor is there liberty if the power of judging is not separated from legislative power and from executive power. If it [the power of judging] were joined to legislative power, the power over life and liberty of the citizens would be arbitrary, for the judge would be the legislature if it were joined to the executive power, the judge could have the force of an oppressor. All would be lost if the same … body of principal men … exercised these three powers.” Madison claimed Isaiah 33:22 as the source of division of power in government.” http://thestoryoflibertyblog.com/2012/06/21/james-madison-and-the-constitution-and-branches-of-government/

“For the Lord is our judge…” He is the perfect Judge. He knows all things, does not take bribes, isn’t swayed by political manipulations and is always looking out for the best interests of the people. His justice is always true, His rulings always right. He is 100% trustworthy. Oh, that we would have a judicial system today that would seek to do the honorable thing and not their own thing. If only they would look to the Perfect Judge to emulate.

“…the Lord is our lawgiver…” His laws have a reason behind them and that reason is for the best interests of all people. He does not make laws to pacify the desires of any person’s wants. His laws never include perversion or sin of any kind. His laws are righteous— always right. There is not an inkling of unwholesomeness contained in His writ. His motivations are always pure. Oh, that we would have a Congress with the same desires! If only our House of Representatives and Senate would pattern themselves off of our Righteous Law-giver!

“…the Lord is our king…” His ruler ship and leadership never includes malice. He deeply loves His people and will always do what is in their best interests. His is never disconnected from what is going on at any time and in any place. He always makes the right decisions in any situation regardless of how it may be received by any person. His integrity is never in question. Our Executive branch of government would do well to follow His example.

How is it that we think we are wiser than the founders of this country? Why do we believe we can do things better? Who is it that is ultimately seeking to change how our government is supposes to function? It surely seems apparent that the founders looked to God in the formulation of the American government. Would it not be wise for our leaders to do the same? Oh, that it would be so! If not to God, then who are they looking to?

Dear Father, thank You for the wisdom and insight that You gave to those You moved to formulate this America. You have blessed this country and many have sought to be a blessing to other countries and still do because of Your blessing. Oh, that our leaders would experience an awakening to Your ways and lead this country in a righteous manner. I am so grateful to know that one day everything will be seen in subjection to You, King Jesus!
