GOD’S PEOPLE ARE TO BE GENEROUS!

GOD’S PEOPLE ARE TO BE GENEROUS!

As the LORD your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. —Deuteronomy 15:14

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. —I John 3:17-18

How has God blessed you? Are you blessing others? When was the last time you gave to someone who had a need? Ok… we give regularly to and through our local church, but I am not talking about that. I am talking beyond that. When was the last time you heard of or had seen a NEED that you personally could meet and met it?

The Lord our God has blessed us all to different degrees. All that we have is His. We are stewards of His resources and we need to see that many of these resources are to flow not only to us but are to go through us to others. Are we seeing it that way?

So we are told in the Scripture portions that “As the LORD your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.” That is, give to the person in NEED. The verses from First John above are very challenging, convicting and serious about our responsibility in this area. If we have the ability to help, if we seen a brother or sister in NEED and we do not help— “how can the love of God be in (us)?” God’s love will compel us to help those who have a NEED with His resources!   “Love is a verb” as someone has said.   It is action and not just words.

James 2:14-17 tells us the very same thing—

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

So a loving faith will take action when our Lord desires us to. We will be a faithful steward of His resources and help those we can that are in NEED. We will seek to be a blessing to others as our Lord God Almighty has blessed us. Is our Lord asking you to bless someone today?   May you do so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BS1ndKgU36I

Dear Father may Elaine and I truly be a blessing today as we seek to apply Your resources to bless others. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
