PRAYER ANSWERED IS TO BE LOVINGLY OBEYED

Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.”   “I have heard you,” replied Jeremiah the prophet. “I will certainly pray to the Lord your God as you have requested; I will tell you everything the Lord says and will keep nothing back from you.” Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us. Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God.” —Jeremiah 42:3-6

Here is a good indication for us as to what we should be praying about as well. We should be praying about “where we should go and what we should do.” Then when our Lord reveals to us the answer we need to “obey the Lord our God.” So really, when we pray those two items specifically, “where we should go and what we should do,” are we ready to obey our Lord when He reveals these things to us?

Now this is a challenge to us because there is much as a follower of Jesus that He has revealed to us in His Word already. Are we being obedient to what He has said to us? What has our Lord put on your heart? Where has He told you to go? What has He said you should do? As we spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word, He will show us! He may have already shown us! Will we obey Him? Jesus said, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them” (John 14:21). Simply put, if we love Jesus we will obey Him. Am I? Are you? May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLX83HbefrI&list=UUf1NPIFOBwzTLVQiEDnq4Cw&index=16

Dear Father please help me to obey You when You reveal where you want me to go and what You want me to do. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!

Two things Jesus has commanded us is to “make disciples” (Matthew 28:16-20) and “be My witnesses” (Acts 1:8). How are you and I intentionally seeking to be lovingly obedient in these two areas? Let us ask Him “where we should go and what we should do” and then obey as He reveals who is the “man of peace” that we should begin discipling.   Oh that we would faithful in doing our part that “ this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).  Yes, may it be so!
