THE CROSS IS TO KILL HOSTILITY!

THE CROSS IS TO KILL HOSTILITY!

…reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. —Ephesians 2:16

What can kill the hostility between individuals, people groups, tribes and even nations? It is the cross and all that was done there by King Jesus. If there is hostility between parties, then is the cross understood?   Is it being applied? I think not.

We need the understanding of what Jesus did at the cross to reconcile people from “from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).  Are you being hostile toward a tribal group, a language group, a people group or a nation? If so, then you do not understand what took place at the cross or you are being disobedient to what took place at the cross. It is a disregard for the shed blood of Jesus!

The cross indeed is the great leveler of all people. There is only one Church and there is only one Head and that would be Jesus and it is His Church, His Body— not your Church and not mine.   All those who call on Jesus for salvation from sin and relationship with Him are in that Body, His Church. The Church, Body of Christ, has members made up of the world’s “tribe and language and people and nation.” And… we “belong to one another” (Romans 12:5; Ephesians 4:25).

Hostility, division and disunity come from disobedience to the finished work of Jesus at the cross. There is no way around it. People can come up with all the reasons and excuses, but they do not fly when it comes to the way Jesus opened up for us at the cross. You cannot love God and hate your brother regardless of what “tribe and language and people and nation” you or they are from— “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. (I John 4:20).

Hostility, division and disunity because of a person or people being of a certain “tribe and language and people and nation” are devilish and surely are not of God. So let us have God’s perspective when it comes to every “tribe and language and people and nation!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKTqwBetI1I

Yes Dear Father may the Body of Jesus, His Church, be faithful to Him as the Head and be united regardless of what “tribe and language and people and nation” someone is from. May this be so through the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus.   So be it!
