So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. —Galatians 3:6
Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” —Galatians 3:11
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” —Galatians 3:13
“There is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10) and “there is no one who does good, not even one” (Romans 3:12). “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe” (Romans 3:22) and “all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24). “God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:25-26).
One cannot read these verses and be awe struck at the love, mercy and grace of God. Righteousness, none of which we had, was credited to our account when we called on the Name of the Lord Jesus for salvation (Romans 10:13). “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (II Corinthians 5:21). For those of us who have called on His Name we “will live by faith.”
Jesus has “redeemed” those who have called on His Name and they have been given His righteousness. This is truly amazing— not only being saved from our sin, but also being continually saved until we see Jesus face to face. Oh, that we would live faithfully for Him— being the person He desires and serving as He desires. May this be so.
Dear Father, I fail You, oh so often. I so look forward to being in Heaven with Jesus and all who love Him… never to fail again. Oh, glorious day that will be. Until then, may I yield to the power of Your Holy Spirit and live in the authority of Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHeEytocJVY
