ACKNOWLEDGE, TRUST AND WAIT ON THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? —Isaiah 29:16

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, “Because you despise this word and trust in oppression and perverseness and rely on them… —Isaiah 30:12

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. —Isaiah 30:18

“I do not believe that! It is not relevant to my life.” These were words spoken by an individual who had a very good paying job. They made the big bucks and did not see any need for God, but they were living for themselves. The death and resurrection of Jesus did not mean anything to them.

So it is according to Isaiah 29:16 above. There are those who do not believe the Lord God Almighty is the Creator. They will come up with fanciful ideas as to how man came into existence, but they will not acknowledge God. These people despise the Word of God and rely on oppression and perversion. Idols of any type are a perversion. This can include the person who just wants a nice job, a nice family, a nice home and nice stuff. There is not anything necessarily wrong with those things unless they are our god and what we live for. Plus, these people do not want to hear what the Word of God says. They want to believe in a god of their own thinking in which they can manipulate to satisfy their own selfish desires.

The Lord waits to be gracious to these people. He wants to show both grace and mercy to people, but He will not force Himself on them. Oh, if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ, why not trust Him today and experience the mercy (not getting what we do deserve because of our sin— judgment, punishment and hell) and grace (getting what we do not deserve because Jesus took our sin debt on Himself and paid it— salvation from sin, no judgment, heaven) that He offers.

For those of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ, let us wait on Him and be blessed. He does all things right and we can trust Him for that. “Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD” (Psalm 27:14). “Don’t say, “I will get even for this wrong.” Wait for the LORD to handle the matter” (Proverbs 20:22). Whatever our need, let us wait on Him.

For us who believe we know the Lord Created all things. Thank You, Lord, for Your wonderful Creation. We also love His Word and desire to hear what He has to say to us and to apply His Word to our lives. Oh yes, may we wait on Him and be blessed! Thank You Lord for Your Word and the many blessings You have bestowed upon us in Jesus!
