He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God, and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper. —II Chronicles 26:5

Leaders lead others and their examples of faithfulness or unfaithfulness will have an impact on others.  Those who are faithful to the Lord will encourage others to be faithful to the Lord and He will empower them.  On the other hand, those who are unfaithful to the Lord will encourage others to be unfaithful to the Lord.  They will cause others to act sinfully.

We make a deliberate choice to follow the Lord, to be instructed by others who fear the Lord and He makes us prosper in many ways as we seek Him.  But, if pride drives us we can become unfaithful and serve according to our own desires and not our Lord’s desires.

Jesus as Lord, Savior and Servant gives us the example of how to bring glory to God.  It is by doing the work that God has given us to do. This is true of each of us— “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).  Jesus “gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:14).  Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” (John 15:5-8). And so just as Jesus brought glory to the Father by finishing the work He was given to do, so also we can bring glory by bearing fruit in the work He has given us to do.  Oh, that we would bring glory to His Name!
