LOVINGLY OBEDIENT

When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,” they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry. The Lord will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven. The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law. —Deuteronomy 29:19-21

 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. —Deuteronomy 30:14

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. —John 14:21

            Disobedience and rejection of our Lord is an eternal mistake.  To think that one can spurn He who created all things is a mightily faulty mindset and the consequence will seal a person’s destiny forever apart from our Lord to  “eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:46). 

            Think about your child telling you to your face that he or she is not going to obey what you say.  Not only that they are not going to obey you, but that they don’t want anything to do with you.  They do not want to be around you and they don’t want you around them.  They just desire you to be out of their life.  Wow… how hurtful is that!

            Now consider a person telling God that… the God that created them… that gave them life… that desires their sin to be forgiven so they could be with Him forever in a sinless, perfect place— heaven.  Wow… this person does not want anything to do with God.  They don’t care or don’t believe that He created them.  They don’t care or believe that He gave them life.  They don’t care or believe that He desires to forgive their sin so they could be with Him in that perfect, sinless place— heaven— forever!  They just don’t want anything to do with God, His plans and purposes.  How sad is that!

            But all those who love Him will obey Him.  They understand that He is only good.  Those following Him understand all the evil, all the bad things that happen in this world are the result of fallen, sinful man.  Man wants to blame God for these things, but it is mankind, the human race that has brought them on himself.  All the problems on this planet are because of sinful man… not God.
