BENEFITS OF OBEDIENCE, CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE!

BENEFITS OF OBEDIENCE, CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE!

If you obey the voice of the LORD your God. Blessed shall you be… . But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD your God… —Deuteronomy 28:3, 15

Blessing and cursing is dependent on how a nation’s attitude is toward our Lord.  Obedience will bring blessing, disobedience will bring cursing.  “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).  “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.  For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Psalm 33:8-9).  So nations have a choice to make.  Leaders have a choice to make.  Will they follow our Lord or not.  Their choice will bring blessings or curses.

Though this passage is written to Israel there are some general principles we can glean here for any nation.  It is not that any nation is going to be a “Christian” nation, but the influence of those following our Lord can have a great positive impact on a nation.  When light shines in the darkness there is hope.  The greater the light shines the greater the hope.  But when darkness grows greater hope for a nation diminishes.  The light will never be put out, cannot be put out, but the darkness will try more and more to do so.

A nation who will listen to our Lord will generally be blessed.  But a nation that will not listen to our Lord will generally be cursed.  Let’s look at some areas as we consider our nation today.

  • The price of crops is on the rise
  • The price of meat is on the rise
  • The nation is weak before those who are not friendly toward us
  • The nations see us as a waning nation
  • The nation has slaughtered millions upon millions of its children
  • The nation is a nation in debt

Instead of our nation being the head as a leader in the world, we are becoming the tail because of lack of leadership.  Again, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).  There is an affect when a nation desires to follow our Lord.  We are not talking about a “Christian” nation forcing people to believe, but a nation who desires to be obedient and do what is right.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.—Galatians 6:7-10

The Church, the Body of Christ, is to be what He desires and do what He desire regardless of the direction a nation takes.  Our lives may be affected here, but our eternal home is secure in Christ.  Let us shine for Him and may He have mercy and extend grace to our nation.  Yes, Dear Father, may You be pleased to do something new among us.  Oh, that many would flee to Jesus and live for Him.  May that be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOd7Eedu-M0
