FEAR NOT! BE COURAGEOUS!
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you… The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. —Deuteronomy 31:6, 8
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” —Hebrews 13:5-6
Where are we putting our trust? If we put our trust in our Lord God Almighty above all else then we have no need to be afraid. We need not fear people or circumstances. For the follower of Jesus has God’s presence with him always. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We need not be discouraged. No, we are to be “strong and courageous.” Is that how you feel today? If not, why not?
Having a “love of money” and being discontent distracts us from understanding and experiencing God’s presence. Anything or anyone can remove our focus from what is most important. Knowing our Lord God and having His presence is what is most important. Then out of loving obedience we who follow Jesus seek to do His will as it is revealed in His Word. What are you facing today? Are you depending on money to resolve it? Are you depending on people to resolve it? Are you discontent? Do you feel alone? If so then it is time to put your focus in the right place and allow God to give you a peace that only He can give and to give you the courage that only He can give. Focus on Him. You are not alone and He will guide you through whatever circumstance you find yourself in— now and for the rest of your life.
Dear Father I am so grateful that You drew me to Jesus. Now may my confidence only be in You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May it be so!
