COMPASSION ACTS
COMPASSION ACTS
When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. —Mark 6:34
When was the last time you looked on a crowd and had compassion on them? Have you ever sat in a sports stadium and looked at the crowd? Did you consider that the vast majority of people in the crowd were lost and on their way to hell? Do you understand that they are “are like sheep without a shepherd? Did your heart go out to them?
How about the person you work with, go to school with or even your neighbor—- Do you look at them with compassion, knowing they are on their way to hell and are “like sheep without a shepherd? Truly, when was the last time you looked at a crowd or an individual and had compassion, knowing they are “like sheep without a shepherd? Knowing they are without Jesus…
When Jesus saw the crowds and had compassion on them and understood they were shepherdless He did something. He began to teach them. Is this not what we should seek to do was well? If we understand people are without Jesus, the Good Shepherd, should we not seek to teach them about Him. Do we have compassion toward people like that? Oh yes, may it be so! Dear Father may I have the compassion that Jesus does. May this compassion of Christ cause me to encourage people to consider Jesus, the Good Shepherd. He is the One who gave His life for them that they in turn may have eternal life. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus, the Compassionate and Good Shepherd.
