TRUST HIM!

TRUST HIM!

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. —Job 1:1

And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” —Job 1:8

But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. —Job 1:11-12

Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.” —Job 2:4-6

Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips. —Job 2:9-10

In a matter of minutes Job got news that his oxen were stolen and servants were killed except for the one telling him the news, his sheep were destroyed and servants were killed except for the one telling him the news, camels stolen and servants were killed except for the one telling him the news, and all his children died together in a wind storm that collapsed the house they were in. This news all came in a matter of minutes!

Job began an emotional roller coaster with the deep pain and sorrow that he was experiencing. He lost everything besides his wife and a few servants. It did not help that his wife said, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die” (Job 2:9). What depths of agony, aloneness and abandonment he must have been feeling. His wife speaking the very thing that Satan wanted Job to do. No wonder Job said, “Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire? (Job 3:11).   His pain was immense.

We know that this was not happening because of Job being a wicked man.   This is not a form of justice for wrong-doing. God said twice of Job that he was “blameless and upright.” The Book of Job also starts off stating the same thing about Job.   Not all suffering will be understood and this is where we have to trust God for what we do not know. Will we? Job had emotional statements, but he still looked to God. Yes, he wanted answers like we all do, but God had to show Job how much he did not understand before Job acknowledge that was surely the case.

Whatever suffering you are going through may not be understood, but God desires that you trust Him. He knows what He is doing when we do not. So will you trust Him with Your very life, health circumstances… and death?   Will you trust Him with all your relationships and material belongings? It is all His and He will work through it all to fulfill His purposes in and through your life. We can and should trust Him with all we do not understand. May we do so!

Dear Father there is so much I do not understand, but help me to please trust You for all of that.   May I be faithful with what You have revealed to me and live as You desire. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rR_Rdb1CTE
