HIS GREAT NAME!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. —John 1:1-3
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. —John 1:12
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. —John 1:14
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! —John 1:29
And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God. —John 1:34
Jesus the Creator, the life-giver, the Word became flesh, the Lamb of God the Son of God…
“All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Yes, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:16). Grab a hold on that! You, yes you, were created through Jesus and you were created for Jesus… created for Him!
If something was created for you— say clothing or a piece of furniture or a house… it was created specifically for you to enjoy or you could do anything you wanted to do with it. We were created for Jesus and He desires us to love Him, to follow Him, to serve Him and one day to be in glory with Him forever in that perfect place— Heaven.
For this to be true a person has the responsibility to “receive Him” and when a person does receive Him He gives “the right to become children of God.” If a person comes to the door of my house and I ask Him in, then I have received that person into my house and we have fellowship together. Then they too will bear witness to the Son of God “who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
Dear Father I thank You for loving the people of this world so much that You gave Your only Son at the cross to be the sacrifice for me so my sin could be forgiven, so I can serve You now and be with You in that glorious Heaven one day. May I serve faithfully for the rest of my life in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
