FRUIT BEARING DEMONSTRATES SALVATION
FRUIT BEARING DEMONSTRATES SALVATION
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. —Matthew 3:8
I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.
A doctor is a doctor by the evidence of his actions and not just because he says he is one. There is an outward demonstration that he truly is a doctor. So it is with any vocation. A person can say they are a fisherman, a carpenter, a lawyer, a stockbroker or whatever else, but is the evidence seen in their lives that truly proves what they are.
So it is with following our Lord Jesus Christ. It is one thing to say “yes, I believe” and yet if there is not fruit in the person’s life bearing witness to that statement— has the person repented and truly believed? If a person has truly repented then there should be indication of that in their lives. A person cannot follow Jesus and over time not be transformed and desire the desires that He desires. If an individual says they believe and is filled with their own desires… well, that is very concerning.
How about you and I? Is there fruit in our lives that bears evidence that we have truly repented? Yes? What does that fruit look like? Am I just saying I am bearing fruit or is there visual evidence of that fruit? What would others say about our lives? Would they say they see fruit? Oh, may we faithfully follow our Lord and bear much fruit for His glory (John 15:5). In this way we prove to be His disciples (John 15:8).
Dear Father may my life bring glory to Your Name by fruit bearing. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. Oh, that it may be so!
