Selfishness!
Don’t be selfish. —Philippians 2:3 https://youtu.be/W2zQwXwnLxI?t=1488
Selfishness is so short lived. “And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever” (I John 2:17). Oh, that I would not be selfish, but please Him! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTLGBfv4xaM
May I live in the freedom of God’s grace, but may I not use that freedom to indulge the flesh (Galatians 5:13). “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace” (Romans 6:12-14).
Yes, selfishness is short lived, short sighted, short pleasured and has such a short reward. Oh that I would focus on those things of eternal significance— “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us” (Colossians 3:1-11).

Dear Father, oh, that I would keep my eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ and not the things of this world. Forgive me for the times I get my focus on the wrong things. May I turn and refocus on those things that are pleasing in Your sight. Oh, that I would be faithful to You above all things in the authority of Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit. May it be so!
