CONFIDENCE THROUGH TRUST
We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. —II Corinthians 3:4-5
Where do you and I put our confidence? What or who do you and I trust in? Do we trust in our abilities? Does our confidence come from being able to do something? Does it come from our education? Does it come from our position at work or in school? Does it come with people patting us on the back? Does it come from our qualifications?
The Apostle Paul and his colleagues had confidence because their trust was in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. They understood that “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). They understood that their “qualification comes from God.” Man has his own standards of qualifications, but God is the ultimate qualifier. We cannot do anything on our own that will last for eternity. We do not have the qualifications… But God is the one who gives us strength and abilities (I Timothy 1:12; I Peter 4:11). If He calls us to be or do something, then He qualifies us to be and do that something. Trust Him!
Dear Father, help me to trust in You through Jesus that I can be confident with a confidence in knowing I cannot do anything, but You can do everything through me that You desire. Yes, help me to trust You!
