BE FAITHFUL IN THE ABILITIES GIVEN YOU!

Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together! —Matthew 25:21, 23

I am sure all of us who are parents have stories of teaching our children to drive, but in the end they got their license. As they were faithful in their learning in the little things, so then they were able to tackle the larger things. I did not first take any of my children to the interstate highways to learn. No, we started at the National Guard Training Center parking lot. There was plenty of room and in the evenings there wasn’t any traffic. Eventually we made it to the back roads, main roads, then the highway. As they were faithful with the “little things” so they were faithful in the ‘bigger things.”

Jesus actually said, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much” (Luke 16:10). It is interesting in the Parable of the Three Servants that each of them were given money amounts according “to their abilities.” When the master of the servants returned the servants were recognized for their faithfulness or unfaithfulness in the application of their abilities. For the faithful “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’” (Matthew 25:21).

Are you and I being faithful with what we have been delegated with according to our abilities? The Lord God Almighty has given to us what He deems right. Now may you and I be faithful with it. It is also interesting that regardless of the amount given to the servants the master said, “You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities” (Matthew 25:21, 23). Faithfulness now leads to more responsibilities later!

Dear Father, may I be responsible with what You have delegated me with. Oh, may I serve faithfully in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
