HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. —I Corinthians 2:12-13

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? —I Corinthians 3:1-3
Every single person who has called on Jesus is saved (Romans 10:13). Saved from sin and eternal death/judgment and saved to eternal life/no judgment (John 5:24; Romans 6:23). Those “having heard and believed the word of truth—the gospel of your salvation—you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:13-14). So, we understand that the Holy Spirit—
- Seals a person after they believed the Word of Truth— the gospel of salvation
- Seals a person as a pledge of our inheritance
- Seals those who are God’s possession
- Is from God
- Is not from the world
- Causes us to understand what God has freely given us
- Teaches us what to speak not by human wisdom
- Teaches us the words we are to speak—Spirit-taught Words
- Gives us the mind of Christ
- Enables us to walk by Him
- Leads us away from worldliness
- Desires us not to be mere infants
- Wants us to move beyond milk to solid food
- Wants us to be ready to receive solid food
- Desires us not to be worldly living
- Desires us not to act like mere humans
- Desire us not to be divisive followers
Indeed, are we allowing God’s Holy Spirit to impact our lives and guide us into all that He wants to guide us into?
“We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” —Hebrews 5:11-14

- Are you able to take the meat of His Word because you are mature?
- Are you mature because you are constantly using/applying God’s Word?
- Are you training yourself to distinguish between good and evil?
Oh, Dear Father, may we allow Your Holy Spirit to guide us, to teach us and to speak according to His desires. Yes, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Oh, that we would be mature, teaching others about Jesus for Your glory and for the benefit of many.
