FAITHFULNESS
But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God… you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the Lord God.” —II Chronicles 26:16, 18
Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God. —II Chronicles 27:6
Faithfulness, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, is what our Lord desires. Faithfulness requires humility—
“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.” —Romans 3:3
Pride will be a person’s downfall and dishonor— “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). But when a person walks “steadfastly before the Lord” they will understand what Jesus meant when He said—
- “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20
- “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” —Acts 1:8
- “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” —John 14:12
And… not only will they understand what He meant, but they will also seek to live out what He said in His power and authority and with humble faithfulness. Oh, Dear Father, may this be the case in my own live by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKT5BCmvmq0&list=RDMKT5BCmvmq0&start_radio=1
